Kingsport’s Daniel Kilgore headed to Tampa for Super Bowl 55 following COVID scare

A haircut almost resulted in Kingsport native and Kansas City Chiefs Center Daniel Kilgore missing Super Bowl 55 this weekend in Tampa.

Published reports said Kilgore and other team members were scheduled to have a barber come to team facilities on Sunday for service. The barber was doubled-up with PPE masks after taking a rapid COVID test and was in the cutting Kilgore’s hair when the hairstylist’s results came back positive.

Under NFL protocol, Kilgore was told to stay in isolation because of close contact but the Chiefs have said the Dobyns-Bennett alumnus continues to test negative and is scheduled to leave for Florida the day before the game.
