No admission: Pandemic quashes crowds for next month’s Southern Conference tourney in Asheville
The Southern Conference has formally announced there will be no general ticket sales for their annual tournament next month that will award the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament for both men’s and women’s divisions.
Conference Commissioner Jim Schaus is confident that both sets of games will be played in a safe environment for student-athletes at the Harrah’s Cherokee Center in Asheville—the site of the Maui Invitational in November.
The tournament which will include the ETSU Buccaneers is scheduled for March 4th-8th, a week before NCAA Selection Sunday. The Road to the Final Four starts March 18th and all games this year will be played in Indiana in a bubble-condensed setting due to the pandemic.
