Customers vote for new board for troubled North Greene Utilities, Inc.
Customers of North Greene Utilities, Inc. have voted to reappoint a new board of administrators who will attempt to rectify financial and infrastructure issues in it’s service area. The utility has reportedly been financially strained and has faced setbacks in delivering quality water to customers. This led the Greene County Commission to create a resolution to essentially take over management of North Greene Utilities. Around 2,300-2,400 households, are served by the Utility. The utility is the only provider in the state that is an incorporated nonprofit, and that meant its customers were required to meet over the weekend to vote on whether to transfer operations of the utility to the county or appoint a new board. Since the vote was to appoint a new board, the resolution to absorb the district was removed from Monday night’s commission agenda.
