Boil water advisory as Smyth County awaits new water pump

Smyth County Water and Sewer Department has issued a boil water advisory for communities in the Midway Service Area. Areas under the advisory include: Old Quarry Road, Saddleback Road, Lions Club Road, Mountain Road, Pleasant Heights, Valley Road, and Page Town Road. State health officials feel there is a safety concern about the water. Smyth County experienced a loss of water due to a broken water pump in the Midway Service Area on November 19 and a new pump is expected to be installed Wednesday.
