Washington County Virginia police coordinate operation with Texas department to catch con man
A college student from McKinney, Texas was marched out of a classroom and into police custody for his alleged role in a celebrity impersonation financial assistance scam.
Mark Kadiri, 21, preyed upon the elderly with his scheme, including a Washington County, Virginia resident. Investigators said he conned victims in several states out of $61,000 found in his bank account.
Upon his arrest, a police report said Kadiri admitted to the operation. He faces a third degree felony charge in Texas and plans are in place to have him brought to Virginia to be served with four warrants, including one for computer fraud and financial exploitation.
