TDOT awards contract for expedited Broad Street bridge repair

The Tennessee Department of Transportation has awarded a contract for the expedited repair of the Broad Street bridge in Elizabethton that was damaged by Hurricane Helene. According to TDOT, Michels Construction Inc. was awarded the contract on November 20 and was signed on Wednesday. TDOT said the “Progressive Design-Build” contract will help accelerate the bridge’s reopening. Environmental permitting and design are now underway and survey activities have started. The department hopes to reopen the bridge by May 23, 2025.
