Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office investigating after human remains found in fire

Police have started an investigation after human remains were found at the site of a house fire in Hawkins County on December 9. The Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residential fire in the the Clinch Valley community just after midnight. Officers found the home fully involved and the Clinch Valley Fire Department attempting to extinguish the blaze. One person was believed to be inside the residence and after an investigation, human remains were found inside. Investigators are awaiting positive identification and multiple agencies continue to assist in the investigation.
