Kingsport City Schools to add two new elementary schools
Kingsport City Schools will be adding two new elementary schools in the next five years. City officials say that after various studies on the city’s future, leaders feel like the new schools are needed to accommodate for expected population growth over the next few decades. The locations for the schools will be the old Sullivan North High School and the current Lynn View Community Center. Part of the plan is to consolidate elementary schools from eight to seven as the two new buildings will be able to hold more students. Consolidating schools will mean the closure of Kennedy, Roosevelt, and Jackson elementary schools. The current plan is to have both schools complete by the 2028 or 2029 school year.
