SW Virginia drug store owner sent to prison for healthcare fraud
The owner of a Southwest Virginia pharmacy will spend 18 months in prison for a healthcare fraud scheme that cost the US government more than $1.3 million.
Prosecutors said Randy Yost, 72, of Cedar Bluff, dispensed generic drugs to customers while billing Medicaid and Medicare for the cost of name brand narcotics.
Yost also submitted receipts to federal programs for drugs that were not sold and would receive double payments after selling pills returned to his pharmacy.
