Disaster relief package to include $20 million for Hampton High School
Governor Bill Lee has called a special legislative session for Monday, Jan. 20. On of the items in the session calls for immediate legislative and budgetary action to support ongoing recovery efforts after Hurricane Helene battered Northeast Tennessee. The proposed Disaster Relief Package includes $20 million for the rebuilding of Hampton High School in Carter County according to a news release from Lee’s office. After the flooding, Hampton students and staff were moved to the former Keenburg Elementary. Officials say no official decision has been made to either renovate the severely damaged Hampton High School property, or to build a new facility.
