TN house and senate work on “Hurricane Helene Interest Fund” in special session

Several bills are set to go through the house and senate throughout the special session with one of the main topics being Helene recovery. In the wake of Helene, the house and senate will both vote on a bill that could bring funding to Northeast Tennessee. The bill would create a “Hurricane Helene Interest Fund” which would pay local government’s interest costs on recovery related expenses. Governor Bill Lee has promoted the passage of this bill since the storm, along with his HEAL Program.
