National Teacher of the Year from Rogersville calls foul on Lee’s teacher bonus proposal
A recent recipient of the National Teacher of the Year award has called foul on a proposed $2,000 bonus for public school teachers attached to Governor Lee’s school voucher bill.
English teacher Missy Testerman of Rogersville noted teachers who work in systems who do not pass a resolution affirming participation in the voucher will not automatically receive the bonus.
Something I had missed in the voucher amendments added yesterday was the clause that teachers in systems who do not pass a resolution affirming participation in the voucher act will not automatically receive the $2,000 bonus. pic.twitter.com/LIyYGP1rBS

Most Northeast Tennessee school boards passed resolutions earlier this month that reject the education act while mayors of 7 counties put their name on a letter endorsing Lee’s plan.
