Elizabethton City Council appoints new judge

The Elizabethton City Council appointed a new municipal judge following the suspension of Judge Jason Holly’s law license. The Council voted Thursday night to appoint Theresa Smith to the role. Her prior background with the district attorney general’s office and prosecutor background plus previously serving as a city judge in Elizabethton were sited for the decision. The council previously appointed Judge Stacy Street to serve as interim municipal court judge until a permanent replacement could be chosen.
