As the Wagon Wheel Turns: Rucker making financial amends after fans’ sour note on ETSU appearance
Darius Rucker said it was as awkward as it looked.
In response to some kickback from some ETSU faithful for not performing, but rather lip-syncing, his hit Wagon Wheel at Greene Stadium Saturday, Rucker made a $2,980 contribution to the Buccaneers’ Name Image and Likeness fund that provides financial assistance for athletes.
Rucker said on social media that his donation is $10 for every minute he was at midfield at the end of the third quarter. Rucker said he also wanted to bring attention to the ETSU football program and that he loves Johnson City.
