Carter County committees recommend canceling tourism contract with Chamber
The Carter County Budget and Financial Management committees are recommending canceling the tourism contract with the Elizabethton/Carter County Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber uses hotel-motel tax revenue to promote tourism in Carter County. Committee members said they want to keep their options open for other agencies. The commission must notify the Chamber at least 60 days before ending the contract or else it will automatically renew in March. The contract is good for three years. The Carter County Commission will vote on whether to cancel the Chamber’s contract at its meeting on December 16 at 6 p.m.
