Community shows support after school principal suddenly resigns

Parents, students and community members attended Monday night’s Washington County, Virginia School Board meeting to show their support for recently resigned Abingdon Elementary Principal Jeff Johnson. Johnson resigned last week from his position but did not give a reason. Many took the podium to speak about Johnsons character. The school board did not provide any further details into Johnson’s sudden resignation at the meeting with officials telling media that The boards policy is not to discuss personnel issues and the current focus is on students and staff during the transition.
