Elizabethton police transition to new office space this week
Members of the Elizabethton Police Department will spend the next two days moving into their new headquarters located down the street.
A former furniture warehouse on East F Street was purchased by the city in 2017. That was followed by a bond sale approved by City Council for more than $4 million that helped finance the police project along with improvements at T. A. Dugger Junior High School.
Chief of Police Jason Shaw said emergency response operations including 911 will not be disrupted by the move. He did note that some office services will be delayed and residents can call ahead for immediate matters. The department will be back at full operation following the transition on Wednesday.
