Florida cold case reveals Kingsport man involved 1979 double homicide
A Kingsport, Tennessee resident has been identified as the shooter in two cold cases based in Charlotte County, Florida.
A report from the agency said Officer John J. Greer was interviewed in 2023 while bedridden at a Kingsport care facility and admitted to killing his wife Jackie–orignally classified as a suicide–and a farm store clerk IDd as 25-year-old Adele Easterly.
The agency said Greer killed both women within three months of each other in 1979. Greer died in March of last year.
The report said a former Sheriff’s Office Explorer was sexually assaulted multiple times by Greer; she came forward with information that helped break the case. The complete report is available by clicking here.
