Johnson County Helene recovery update

Johnson County officials provided the latest update on Hurricane Disaster Relief. Ongoing recovery efforts in Johnson County include State Route 91 towards Damascus being opened now. Work continues on state route 421 towards North Carolina and Roan Creek Road as those remain closed. Officials say County roads are passable but motorists are asked to use caution. The National Guard has assigned personnel and equipment to help with debris removal. They will only be removing debris that includes vegetation. Officials ask residents to place debris at the property right-of-way, other household or property debris must be placed in a separate pile. And the Johnson County Library has FEMA representatives available to assist residents with their FEMA applications: Monday-Saturday 10:00 a. m. – 5:00 p.m. and Sunday 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
