Man pulled from Powell River identified

Authorities in Wise County have identified the body pulled from the water over the weekend near the Powell River Trail in Appalachia.

EMS and police were notified of a body floating in the channel Sunday afternoon. The man recovered, IDd as Michael Wayne Sullivan, Jr., 45, of Big Stone Gap was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Wise County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the case.
