Man Suspected Of Killing SWVA Police Officer Now Being House In Regional Jail In Abingdon
A 33 year old South Carolina man, suspected of the weekend shooting that killed Southwest Virginia Police Officer Michael Chandler is slowly making his way back to Wise County, but still has not been formally charged with the death of Chandler. Michael Donivan White of Cross South, Carolina was arrested in Kingsport and has been housed in Kingsport, Sullivan County, the regional jail in Duffield and now is housed without bond on unrelated probation violation charges out of Wise County in the regional jail in Abingdon. Commonwealth’s Attorney Chuck Slemp says investigators and prosecutors continue to build a case against White and formally charges in connection with Chandler’s death are still pending.
