Megan Boswell case: Both sides rest, closing arguments next

Megan Boswell’s murder trial reached the one week milestone Wednesday and both the prosecution and defense have now rested their cases. Boswell faces 19 charges in the death of her baby daughter, Evelyn Boswell. Her charges include first-degree murder, two counts of felony murder, 11 counts of false reports and abuse of a corpse. Deputy District Attorney William Harper introduced an involuntary order from a court in Virginia that ordered a mental health evaluation of Boswell’s former boyfriend Hunter Wood. The prosecution rested its case after the exhibit was entered. Boswell’s attorney, Gene Scott, made a motion for acquittal that was denied by Judge Goodwin. Boswell was given a microphone to say for the record that she understood she had a right not to testify and that it was her decision not to testify. Scott then informed the jury that the defense was resting its case. Judge Goodwin said the court needed to enter an extended break to prepare the charge for the jury while the both sides readied their closing arguments.
