Parkdale Mills in Mountain City announces closure
Damage from hurricane Helene will cause a Mountain City manufacturing facility will permanently close. International yarn manufacturer Parkdale Mills notified state and local officials Thursday that it plans to close its facility in Mountain City on January 3, affecting 120 workers. Employees were also informed of the closure on Thursday. Parkdale Mills is one of Mountain City’s largest water customers and the town will lose at least half a million dollars in revenue because of the closure. The company told employees a Tennessee Rapid Response Team would be on site in the coming days to assist them with filing for unemployment benefits, exploring retraining and trade school opportunities, and available community and state resources.
