TBI: Officer involved shooting fatality in Mountain City, K-9 injured
Authorities are investigating a Wednesday night officer-involved shooting in Mountain City that left one person dead and a K-9 injured. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says that deputies from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and the Carter County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on Cross Mountain Road just before 10:30 p.m. Deputies were attempting to execute a search warrant for 39 year old Alexander James Russom. The report says Russom fired shots at deputies and that Deputies returned fire and hit Russom. Russom was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. A Johnson County K-9 was also shot in the incident and taken to a veterinary emergency clinic.
