TDOT and VDOT are ready as winter storm approaches
Most of East TN and SWVA are under a Winter Storm Watch as the region is expected to be blanketed with a significant snowfall. The snow is expected to impact traffic Friday afternoon into Saturday with accumulations of anywhere from 3 to 6 inches, with locally heavier amounts possible. TDOT and VDOT crews are on standby to begin working on roadways and are offering tips to motorists who must travel. Those tips include making sure to use your headlights. Slowing your speed for more reaction time. Give yourself more distance between you and the car in front of you, do not tailgate. Use your seatbelt. It’s also recommended to have an emergency readiness kit in your vehicle in case you become stranded.
