TVA asks for voluntary consumer steps to preserve electricity
Customer demand is likely to push power usage by the TVA into record territory with 34,600 megawatts estimated by the provider.
The groups are asking for voluntary reductions on electric use. Bristol Tennessee Essential Services recommends steps like lowering your thermostat, turning off lights and non-essential appliances, and delaying using washing machines, dryers, and dishwashers–some of the items that use major electricity.
The previous record was one year ago in January with 34,577 megawatts, breaking the mark set in 2008.
