UPDATE: Man wanted for Johnson County shooting arrested in Elizabethton
A man wanted in connection to a shooting in Johnson County was arrested in Elizabethton Thursday. According to an arrest report from the Elizabethton Police Department, officers received a BOLO regarding Michael Nelson, who was wanted for attempted second-degree murder after a “shoot out” in Johnson County. Nelson was reported to be driving a stolen 2011 Honda CRV. Just after midnight, an officer spotted the Honda traveling on North Sycamore Street. The vehicle traveled to Lynnwood Apartments, and a traffic stop was initiated. Nelson was a passenger at the time of the stop. Erin Church and Nelson were then arrested and both charged with possession of stolen property. Church was taken to the Carter County Detention Center, and Nelson was transferred to Johnson County authorities. A weapon was recovered from the vehicle.
