US DOL Unemployment Claims Report 10/1: 21,605 first time unemployment claims filed last week in TN and VA

Nearly 22,000 first time jobless claims were filed last week in TN and VA.

The latest unemployment claims report from the US Dept of Labor says for the week ending Sept. 26, 9,802 first time unemployment claims were filed in TN, while 11,263 first time claims were filed in VA. Tennessee had nearly 2,000 less claims than the week before, while Virginia had close to 700 more claims than the week before. Locally, 594 first time claims were filed last week in Northeast TN, while 7,238 claims were continued.
